There are times I've compared creating to the task of tending a fire. Practice becomes a vigilance over something mysterious and powerful.

Sitting by the keyboard daily and, in a way, waiting for the sounds to present is very different from demanding something from oneself. Practice invites the spark, but it seemingly shows of its own will. Relaxing in a state of heightened attention, an aspect of meditation, is a practice of creativity - a readiness to guide what may or may not decide to appear.
