Improvisation

Improvisation is a speech of the moment. It is not very different from speaking in conversation.

It is born in the belief that one has something to say, perhaps unclear of what that is, until it is being said.

It is an absorption and appreciation of one’s own state of mind and those who may be listening, then withdrawing into silence and listening for what may come to mind. In a flow of play, channelled through well worn riverbeds of practice and memory, one both discovers and creates a work laden with something of meaning.
